This film is a poetic essay on Italian poet and filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini. Inspired by Pasolini's statement that, "Until I die, no one can guarantee to really know me." Misuraca fashions, through an array of film clips and interviews, an "autobiography" in which Pasolini himself tells the story of his life. "Pasolini was the poet of ruins, of rubble, of ashes of this old world. From this comes the title, but not only from this: because I speak through an art that is the art of the shadows of reality, the art of ashes."
