| The Abdullah Ibrahim Trio |
Music - Live
The pianist/composer, Ibrahim, has performed with Duke Ellington, John Coltrane and then Elvin Jones' quartet. After returning to Africa in 1968, he began incorporating African rhythms and chants into his work. In the mid-80s he became an exile, dedicating his work to the people of his home country of South Africa, then still living under apartheid.
His trio consists of Marcus McLaurine (b) and George Gray (dm). They are currently celebrating his new CD Capetown Flowers on Enja.
