Synopsis
Twenty years after Walkabout, Australian Beresford made this film in Quebec, Canada about a 17th-century Jesuit priest who, too, comes face to face with an unfamiliar culture. In his efforts to colonize a tribe of North American Indians, he discovers their common humanity and brutality. And, like Walkabout, this film is breathtakingly georgeous.
