Kissed
Genre:Comedy
Rating:NR

Synopsis
Molly Parker is giving a bravura performance in Kissed. If the term "Bravura" can be applied to Parker's cool alabaster wrath, striding and gliding through the necrophelia of her character, Sandra, in surprisingly seductive fashion. Director Lynne Stopkewitch turns the film itself into a big cooler as it entices us into the surprisingly gentle obsessive focus of Parker's college girl who gets a job in a funeral home so she can make love to the corpses. As she explains to the luckless live med student who romances her, it's about crossing over. By the time she gets there, she adds, she's out of herself. Soft, enticing, creepy, Kissed draws us into its world, aided by subtly otherworldy music by Don McDonald. Even more remarkable, Stopkewitch maintains a light touch throughout, never yielding to solemnity, horror, camp, or macabre, yet crafting black humor into the narrative. Shadowy, heremetic, at times poetic, Kissed is more alluring than you might suppose.
