Synopsis
An oxymoron by nature, this musical film noir is the story of an ex-con who falls for and marries the woman of his dreams, who unbeknownst to him, is a jailbird herself. This might sound impossibly hooky, but add Fritz Lang, George Ralr, and Sylvia Sidney to the mix and its irresistable. With music by Kurt Weill, clearly infuenced by Bertolt Brecht, this rarity is known to the cognizant few as Lang's own Three Penny Opera.
