From the small Romanian village of Clejani, where about 200 Gypsies retain their traditional lifestyle, Taraf de Haidouks offers a magnificent range of Gypsy music. Twelve musicians aged 18-74 blend old-style songs and those with more modern arrangements including medieval ballads, passionate love songs, lively Gypsy melodies and Balkan folk dances. Participants in Latcho Drom, the award-winning film about Gypsy musicians, the band beautifully showcases the expressive passions and complex rhythms of its musical heritage.
