John Wayne appears as a Prussian sea captain who, at the outset of WW II, is trying to return from Australia to Germany. As a Prussian he opposes the Third Reich and finds himself in dangerous waters when both British and German navies pursue him. Lana Turner appears as a devotee to the heroic sea captain who encounters all sorts of dangers, including a horrendous storm and a dangerous shark attack. The plot also involves Wayne being wrongly accused of murdering some innocent island fisherman, and attempting to clear his name. ~ All Movie Guide
